Over the years I have learned what I can cut in my budget to save money. One way I save alot of money is to not buy many gifts. I do give gifts but, they consist of freebies, .24 games, homemade cards, free entertainment, services someone needs, and lots of love! We do buy birthday and holiday gifts for our son but, no DS's or Wii's here. More like art supplies, games, books, and legos(all free or really cheap)! We also take my niece and nephews out for their b-days as well.
Here are some possible items I might include in a gift(you can find these deals at Target)
Easter- Free candy, Free or cheap Annie's Bunnies crackers, Free or cheap bath products, snacks,and etc. like:
Gillette 8oz Body Wash $1.99
use $4/2 from 2/21 P&G
total= 2 for FREE
Fruit Chillers from Del Monte -$1.83
use $1/1 HERE
total=.83
Reach Toothbrush or Floss-.97

total=FREE
Mr Bubble- .$1.77

total=.77
Rimmel Mascara-$2.24
used $3 coupon from March All You

Post-it-notes page tabs $1.24
I used 4-$1.00/1 coupon from 1/10 SS

I love my DS and my Wii, but being a grownup I've 'earned' them. I totally agree kids are better with things that spark their creativity. I've never met a kid who didn't absolutely love new art supplies! (And way to go on that free mascara!)
