Eat From The Pantry Challenge!
I am planning to join the Eat From The Pantry Challenge for the month of January. I have just finished checking my stockpile and planning my menu for the month of Jan. I have decided to limit my grocery budget to just $20 for the whole month (only 3 in our household) for dairy and produce. I am able to do this because I stockpile groceries when they are on sale, use coupons to get items really cheap or free, plan my menu a month at a time, bake all the baked goods I need from scratch(most of the time) once a month, and keep my freezer full of homeade breakfast and lunch items to pack in my son's lunch bag. Here is my menu plan (mine will look different than yours since we have a different stockpile):

I actually have every item I need to make this happen in my pantry and freezer plus breakfast and lunch items. Normally my menu plan has more variety but, afterall this is a challenge!

Make you own laundry soap
I just bought(with swagbucks) the items I need to make homemade laundry soap from Alice.com. For all of you that want to know how it works I will be updating you as soon as I make it. I have high hopes! Here are the ingredients I will be using:
1 bar of Ivory soap, grated
1/2 cup of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
1/2 cup borax powder (can find this in the laundry aisle)
Grate the soap and put it in the sauce pan. Add 6 cupswater and heat until the soap melts. Add washing soda and borax and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon and 6 cups of water and sitr. Let sit for 24 hours and it will gel. You use 1/2 cup per load. It will not be a solid gel! So, I bought a bunch of pumpkin when it was on sale a No Frills for .68 and have been searching for ideas to use it up and these sound YUMMY!
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
(makes 2 dozen cookies)
1 cup Pumpkin
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup Canola Oil
1 Egg
2 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Milk
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup Chopped Walnuts (optional)
Mix together in a large bowl pumpkin, sugar, oil, vanilla and egg. In another bowl mix together flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon and salt. In a small bowl, mix together baking soda and milk and then add to the pumpkin mixture. Slowly add the flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture. Add the chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop spoonfuls of dough on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

FREE Holiday Fun!
We spent the morning building a FREE gingerbread house at the library before rushing over to Lowes for their FREE clinic making Christmas ornaments. FREE fun has never been so--- good! Next week Lowes has a clinic to make a Pet Treat Keeper on Saturday the19th 10am-11am! If you don't have a pet the elves told me you can use these for about anything! Also at Lowes we had a visit from someone interesting (Santa )! While my 8 year old doesn't think there is a Santa he took a peek, snatched some candy, and some FREE build your own kits!
